Man in the Mirror

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Started the 2nd act of my ‘printer’ story (on borrowed paper in the car service waiting room). Hurtling (or lurching) toward a conclusion this weekend.

I start back full-time next week and have students the week after. Getting better at organizing my time. It appears that it may be better if I write in the morning before work.

Listened to the last several audio stories from Clarkesworld Magazine, which were all excellent. Listened to stories from June’s Hypersonic Tales and was a little disappointed. Enjoyed listening to the EscapePod episodes in the 190′s up to 201, which included the Hugo Nominees for short stories and a couple of excellent additional stories, N-words and Harry the Crow.

I’ve been reading Burr by Gore Vidal to get me back in the American History frame of mind, albeit from a contrarian point-of-view.

After my last round of rejections I’ve been swept away by AP Economics and coaching. This weekend I plan to submit all my finished stories and work on my latest. We’ll see.

Overwhelmed

Teaching summer school, preparing for fall classes, coaching, pres. of teachers association, house repairs, volunteering at school, computer issues, reading sf, & listening to sf while exercising and I came across this – which is telling me to get to work writing despite it all – Joe Blow Neopro by Tobias Buckell.
